Stop Bashing the Herald!
I'm guessing the reason the whole Wiccan sex offender story is front page is because most stories pertaining to Halloween (at least in the World Herald) are fairly boring. This story offered the World Herald a chance to entice readers with both a Halloween-esque story (tis the season), and actually reportable news. The story does have value beyond making fun of the guy, name changes are often used by criminals as means to mask the stigma surrounding their name, and this story reports that Mr. McDonald's (Blackthorne) name change was justified by his Wiccan beliefs, which I do suppose is news-worthy to those who share a similar faith.

I would agree with you but the article really just states his criminal record and does not go into the Wican side. It would be a lot better if they went into the Wican Religion. I would totally read an article about being a Wican, and it would be a great Halloween article. They're on the right track but not quite there yet.
ReplyDeleteYou need to realized that the Wiccan religion is obscured behind enchanted cobwebs and terrible curses that cause the very flesh of those with the gally to intrude to fester and burn away! No reporter would dare write and in-depth on such an accursed subject!
ReplyDeleteNice description!! BUT! If they cannot write about Wican then why write about a Wican Sex Offender? That doesn't make sense to me!!
ReplyDeleteAnd by the way! Someone agrees with me! Read the comment they made on my post!
