U.S.-China Space Race
Last week, Gen. Kevin Chilton gave a tour of Bellevue's Offutt Air Force Base to one of China's officers, Xu Caihou. This tour was held with hopes that the relationship between the U.S. and China would become friendlier. Supposedly, China is interested in challenging America in space: they want to go to the moon. However, much concern stirs in the U.S. because of China's ability to shoot weapons at targets into outer space with accuracy.

ReplyDeleteI understand America's concern with other countries' "abilities to shoot weapons at targets into outer space with accuracy", but really, who are we to say who can and cannot have said weapons? Personally, I am concerned that those weapons exist at all, even if they are in my nation's possession.
ReplyDeleteAlso, would it be such a crime for China to overtake the United States' dominance in space? If they are able to develop that rapidly, perhaps it would be beneficial to learn from them. In addition, the universe is expanding. I think there's enough room for everyone up there.
