Omaha has one of the largest populations of Somali Bantus. They first began arriving in 2003 covered from head to toe in colorful headscarves/dresses or hijabs. This African ethnic group has come to the U.S. for better job opportunities, and to learn English, but they have much to sacrifice, including the alteration of their hijabs.
