suing the state

The Kelley family is suing the state for violating the family's due process and equal protection rights. Three of of the seven Kelley children were taking by police and held in state custody for nine years. The other four children they had later on were not taken into state custody, however, because they were not judged to be at risk. Many apologies from from welfare officials went to the Kelley family, but the case is still going to be filed in Douglas County District Court.
