Music therapy aids in healing
In the 13th century, Islamic intellect Abu Nasr al-Farabi's treatise on music described its positive effects on the soul. In the 17th century, Robert Burton's treatise on melancholy stated music as a way to lift the mood. And in 1944, Michigan State University launched the first undergraduate program in music therapy. Music has been proven to aid mental and physical health. It can improve moods, get stroke patients to talk, help straighten out children with behavioral disorders, and calm nerves.
